One of the largest parties in Thailand takes place on Haad Rin Beach on Koh Phangan.
It only takes place once a month, as the name already suggests, during the full moon.
Three days before the party itself, the island gets completely crowded with young, party-minded travellers.
Finding a hotel is quite a challenge during this period.
You have the option to visit Koh Phangan’s Full Moon Party by taking the speedboat.
Make sure to find a responsible operator who doesn’t overcrowd the boat and has plenty of life jackets on board.
If there is no Full Moon Party during your stay at Koh Samui, you have to opportunity to party at the Half Moon Party, which takes one week and one week after the Full Moon Party in a different location on Koh Phangan.
