6 Best Roast Duck In Bangkok 2024

In this article, we cover the best roast duck in Bangkok. Influenced by many other regions, the Thai cuisine offers a variety of Chinese-Thai dishes that most foreigners won’t immediately link to the Thai cuisine itself, but are a huge part of the daily culinary lives of Thai. Especially in Bangkok, there is an abundance of Chinese-Thai local eateries to be found that offer tasty, non-spicy dishes such as roasted pork, pork belly in gravy and Hainanese chicken. We solely focus on what we believe are the best roast duck in Bangkok, including Peking duck. At the bottom of this article, you can find other articles about the best Chinese-Thai dishes in the city. With that being said, let’s jump straight to the results of what we believe are the best roast duck in Bangkok.

The best roast duck in Bangkok are:

1. Roast Duck with Egg Noodle (120 THB) – Prachak Pet Yang

Prachak Pet Yang simply serves the best roast duck in Bangkok. This restaurant has quite a legendary status. Mr Prachak brought the centuries-old Cantonese duck recipe over from China in 1878 and today, it’s served by the fourth generation of the family. Every day, this restaurant is jam-packed with hungry Thai as well as curious foreigners. You can order a plate of Roasted Duck (100 THB), which is served with a nice, sweet dipping sauce, but to make things more interesting flavour-wise, the Egg Noodle with Shrimp Wonton, Roast Duck and Mixed Meats (120 THB) is a more popular choice. This bowl of noodles has all sorts of textures and meats (including that typical sweet Chinese sausage) and is topped with their famous roast duck. We do recommend you order the plate of Road Duck when you are with a group as it’s easily shareable or when you have a huge appetite.

2. Roast Duck Stewed Noodles In Clay Pot (120 THB) – Buay Pochana

While the previously recommended Prachak Pet Yang has a legendary status, this restaurant is a far less known place among foreigners. But when you notice how busy this duck restaurant is on a daily basis, we can assure you that they do a few things very well, including their roast duck. Buay Pochana is located on Sukhumvit Soi 55 (Thonglor), right in the city centre and is contrary to other restaurants on this large street, not a fancy place. No, Buay Pochana is a local eatery that serves fantastic duck dishes with prices that won’t break the bank.

Again, we would recommend you order a duck dish with different components, such as the Duck Stewed Noodles In Clay Pot (120 THB), instead of just a plate of duck. Don’t get us wrong, those noodles are served with a large piece of delicious duck leg. For the duck fanatics, this restaurant offers every part of the duck, including young, gizzard and liver, which are none are my cup of tea, though. But the duck noodles, including the delicious sweet, duck broth, are simply amazing!

Buay Pochana serves relatively fat duck in comparison with other roast duck in Bangkok, meaning the fat is not cooked off or they did not cut off the overflowing fat. For Thai, fat is often a delicacy, but for the Western taste palette, it is not always delicious. For that matter, there are better places to find when it comes to roast duck in Bangkok.

3. Roast Duck with Egg Noodles & Crispy Pork (80 THB) – Bamee Kon Sae Lee

This noodle restaurant is located close to Thonglor BTS and is in business since 1956. In all those years, they fine-tuned their Thai-Chinese recipes and one of their specialities is roast duck. Visitors can choose between a good variety of noodle dishes that either contain crab meat, roasted pork, roast duck, Chinese sausage or roasted red pork. A bowl of homemade egg noodles with roasted duck only costs you 50 THB, while the “Egg Noodles + Roasted Duck + Crispy Roasted Pork” (which is our favourite) only cost you 80 THB. As you can see, you can eat here deliciously and for a bargain.

The real duck lovers can order an individual plate of Roasted Duck (150 THB) and this roast duck has probably the leanest meat of all we’ve tried. The roast duck is served in gravy and accompanied by morning glory. Bamee Kon Sae Lee is also famous for its roasted pork. In fact, we listed this restaurant in our article about the best crispy pork in Bangkok. So do yourself a favour and order a bit of both!

4. Roast Duck Pad Krapow – 55 Pochana

55 Pochana is one of our favourite local Thai restaurants in Bangkok and is an incredibly popular restaurant among locals. The menu is limited and hasn’t changed in years, but what they serve is all fantastically delicious. We’ve recommended 55 Pochana in several other articles and one of our favourite dishes here is their Duck Pad Krapow (150 THB). This version of pad kra pao is served with succulent chunks of meat fried in garlic and chilli, topped with a generous mound of fried holy basil leaves. Although this might not be the type of classic roast duck you’re looking for, it is super tasty and it’s one of the best Thai-Chinese restaurants in the city. In fact, this dish in particular is also listed in our article about the best Pad Kra Pao in Bangkok.

5. Golden Brown Roast Duck (200 THB) – Jae Oh

While this famous restaurant is known for its Tom Yum Mamma Noodles, there are a handful of other dishes that this restaurant brought to the next level with unique twists. One of them is the Golden Brown Duck (200 THB), which is roast duck that is not too fat, yet beautifully tender and covered in salty gravy and fried garlic. If you decide to visit Jae Oh, you must keep in mind that you have to wait in line before getting a table due to its popularity. Queues can take up to an hour or so, so be warned. But in the end, it’s all worth the visit as Jae Oh can measure itself with Bangkok’s best Thai restaurants. Make sure to try the other specialities such as the Spicy Salmon Salad (250 THB), Shrimp with Tofu (200 THB), Crispy Pork (100 THB) and of course Tom Yum Mama Noodles (800 THB).

6. Roast Duck (150 THB) – Rosdee

Rosdee is your go-to Chinese-Thai restaurant around On Nut and Bang Chak, so it’s located a bit outside the city centre. It is in business since 1969. From the outside, you barely notice it’s a restaurant, but once inside, you enter a nicely decorated, fully airconditioned restaurant with Chinese influences. The menu is huge, with almost every possible dish available, including Roast Duck (150 THB). The duck here is pretty lean, has a well-roasted flavour and the skin is nicely crisp. The duck is covered in a strong sauce but is super tasty. There are a handful of noodle options available on the menu as well that are served with duck meat, but the Roast Duck is by far the most ordered dish here. We recommend you try their Prawn Spicy Salad (160 THB) as well if you can handle a bit of spice. The prawns are large and fresh and covered in an explosion of herbs.
