Ekkamai is a popular, trendy area that attracts the younger, Thai generation with plenty of cool places that satisfy your hunger, thirst and dancing moves. And when it comes to food, Ekkemai does offer a wide variety of amazing Thai restaurants. With that being said, let’s jump to our results.
Here Hai is among the best restaurants in Ekkemai, known for its crab fried rice.
The best restaurants in Ekkamai are:
1. Here Hai
Here Hai is one of my personal favourite Thai restaurants in Ekkamai, simply because they bring common Thai dishes to the next level. Here Hai wants to serve the best crab fried rice in Bangkok and they seriously do an amazing job with their signature Insane Crab Fried Rice (340 THB), which is a large portion with a crazy amount of crab meat. There is also a family-sized portion available, which costs you 990 THB. But there are two other heavenly dishes available on the menu that make this place so hugely popular, namely the Stir-Fried Scallop with Holy Basil (300 THB), which is a Pad Kra Pao with scallops, and their Stir-Fried Mantis Shrimp with Garlic (360 THB), which are fried mantis shrimps covered in baked garlic and served with seafood sauce. Here Hai is also listed in our article about the best Thai restaurants in Bangkok. More information such as the opening times, the menu, recommended dishes and TopTravelFoods users’ opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Here Hai.

2. Mother May I
Mother May I is located in a wonderful building in Ekkamai Soi 10 and serves amazing Thai comfort food. Once the owners saw the building, they were immediately sold as it’s a place that takes you back to the comfort of home, the smell of freshly baked bread, colourful desserts, fresh fruits and the foods mother used to cook for them. One of our personal favourites is the Mussaman Curry with Chicken and Durian (220 THB), which is listed in our article about the best curries in Bangkok. But many classic Thai dishes are available on the menu too, which all are beautifully presented and very tasteful with the use of great quality ingredients. For example, their Kai Jom Yud (120 THB), which is a Thai omelette with loads of squid, is one of the specialities of the chef and was crisply fried to perfection.
3. Wattana Panich
Wattana Panich is one of the most famous local Thai restaurants in Ekkamai and is in business for over 60 years. Awarded countless awards, this place serves one of the best beef noodles in town. In front of the restaurant is a huge bowl of legendary soup. You’ll smell the savoury broth from Wattana Panich, which is kept boiling 24 hours a day, from down the street. A bowl of Beef Noodles costs you 100 THB, while a bowl of Goat Stew costs you 300 THB. Keep in mind that this restaurant is always packed, especially during lunchtime this place is crowded.

5. Sabai Jai Gai Yang
Sabai Jai Gai Yang is a hugely popular Isaan restaurant in Ekkemai that’s been in business since 2000. The restaurant is known for Grilled Chicken (90 THB) but offers a decent variety of typical Isaan dishes, such as Laab (130 THB) and Grilled Pork Neck (140 THB). Sabai Jai Gai Yang is a place where Thai go for a drink, a bite and enjoy a good evening while listening to live music entertainment. There is nothing fancy about Sabai Jai Gai Yang, but it’s sure fun to visit.

7. Phed Mark
YouTube star Mark Wiens, who is also known for writing many blogs about Thai food in Bangkok and other parts of Thailand, opened up this shop near Ekkemai BTS Station together with other food lovers and chefs to serve their all-time favourite dish: pad kra pao. Visitors can choose between Kaprao Beef (155 THB) and Kaprao Pork (105 THB) and can select their preferred level of spiciness. The pad kra pao is served with a Thai fried duck egg and is in general pretty spicy. 8. Arunwan
Arunwan is a popular noodle restaurant in Ekkamai that is known for its noodles with intestines. For many foreigners, eating intestines and other organs is unusual, but for those who love this delicacy, Arunwan is the place to go. In fact, Arunwan is listed in the Michelin Guide several times and the restaurant is always packed with hungry locals, which is a good sign. The highlight on the menu is the Pork Fillet Soup with Intestines which costs 80 THB. There are a few options available without any organs in it, such as the Egg Noodle Wonton and Crispy Pork (80 THB), Roll Noodle Soup with Maw and Crispy Pork (80 THB) and the Crispy Fried Wonton (80 THB).
9. Tamnak Isan
Tamnak Isan is a simple Isaan restaurant in Ekkemai that offers tasty Isaan dishes and thanks to its simplicity, a pretty popular eatery in this area. The menu consists of a whole page dedicated to all sorts of papaya salads, a variety of grilled and deep-fried meats and all the other typical Isaan dishes you can expect, ranging from 75 to 180 THB. The Pork Lemon Spicy Salad (130 THB) was one of my personal favourites at this restaurant, although I did enjoy several other classic Isaan dishes. Tamnak Isan never disappoints me.
