Best Mexican Restaurants In Medellin 2024

When you’re looking for the best Mexican restaurants in Medellin, you will immediately notice that Medellin offers a huge variety of Mexican restaurants, ranging from small, local eateries to upscale Mexican dining options.

In Medellin, Mexican food is hugely popular, and Mexican food lovers are in for a treat.

In this article, we will help you find a place that suits your preferences and we hope to surprise you with our recommendations.

With that being said, let’s jump to what we believe are the best Mexican restaurants in Medellin.

The best Mexican restaurants in Medellin are:

1. Milagros

Milagros is an institution when it comes to Mexican restaurants in Medellin.

Milagros has several branches in Medellin and their first restaurant is located on Avenue 74B, an area where you can find some of the best Mexican restaurants in Medellin.

There are several popular Mexican restaurants located all close to each other.

Although the menu of Milagros is large with all sorts of Tex Mex options such as Chili Con Carne (27,900 COP), Philly Cheese Burrito (47,900 COP) and Callejero Tacos (33,900 COP), most visitors try one of their sharing platters where you can build your own tacos.

Sharing platters for two persons start from 64,900 COP while the sharing platters for five persons start from 153,900 COP.

Aside from the good food, Milagros is also a popular place thanks to the well-decorated interior, the restaurant is simply stunning.

The restaurant at Laureles in particular offers quite a nice view right.

2. Criminal Taqueria

Criminal Taqueria is the perfect example that delicious food doesn’t have to cost much.

This small eatery is located in Provenza, near many bars, in a street that comes alive during the evening.

However, you can grab some grub during the day as well and we highly recommend you do so.

Criminal Taqueria is a popular Mexican place that serves super tasty burritos, tacos, nachos, and more.

I’ve been here several times after exploring Provenza’s exciting nightlife and one of the great things is, aside from their tasty comfort food, that when you order the spicy sauce, it is in fact, deliciously spicy.

There is a good variety of tacos and the majority of the customers will order a few from their selection.

My personal favourites are the Arrachera (8,900 COP), the Cochinita Pibil (7,000 COP), and the Barria Taco (11,900 COP).

The portions aren’t that large but super tasty.

Criminal Taqueria is arguably the most popular restaurant of all the tiny restaurants that are located on this street.

As there are so many of these small restaurants located on this street, you can hop from one restaurant to another.

For ultimate (Mexican) comfort food, head over to Criminal Taqueria!

3. Zacatecas

This Mexican restaurant in Medellin has three branches and is a type of restaurant that serves no-nonsense, affordable Mexican food.

What we mean by that is that the restaurant is not fancy and mainly focuses on serving tasty food and having good service.

Don’t get me wrong, the restaurants look inviting, but it’s so popular because of the food they serve.

The specialties of the house are the main reason why you should visit this place, with the Tampiqueña (26,900 COP) as an absolute highlight.

Of course, you can order all the typical dishes you’d expect at a Mexican restaurant including their tasty Burro de Carne de Res (24,900 COP).

All dishes are served with four different sauces, including an extremely spicy sauce.

Most dishes on the menu cost around 25,000 COP, so this place definitely won’t break the bank.

Zacatecas has two branches in Laureles and one in Envigado.

4. Emiliano La Taqueria

Located opposite the Arkadia Centro Comercial (shopping mall) is this tiny, open-air Mexican restaurant named Emiliano La Taqueria.

This is the kind of place you go to grab a few cold beers with friends and enjoy Mexican food for a bargain.

The menu of Emiliano La Taqueria is limited, as their specialty is the tacos, but you can find a handful of other typical Mexican dishes such as Fajitas de Pollo (17,500 COP) and Quesadilla Gringa (13,900 COP) as well.

You can choose between ten different tacos and we recommend you try their Tacos de Carnitas Michoacanas Surtida (12,900 COP), which is a plate of three tacos with shredded meat and pico de gallo.

The tacos come with four different sauces and limes to spice things up.

Emiliano La Taqueria is yet another no-nonsense Mexican eatery that serves delicious food for a bargain and for that reason, it’s a tremendously popular place in this part of Medellin.

5. Delirio Exquisito

This restaurant is not completely a Mexican restaurant, however, it’s worth a mention as it serves quite some unique dishes.

Delirio Exquisito serves Mexican and Asian fusion dishes, although there are several classic Tex-Mex dishes available on the menu as well.

When visiting the restaurant, the majority of the customers do opt for classics like nachos and burritos, however, we believe that you should go out of your comfort zone and choose the more unique dishes available on the menu.

There are twelve different types of tacos on the menu and the Tempura Tacos (33,900 COP) caught my attention from the start.

Two seaweed tacos are covered in Parmesan tempura and stuffed with deep-fried tilapia.

Then, guacamole, sour cream, and teriyaki sauce are added and the result is one super crispy taco with a Mexican and Asian flavour explosion.

The signature Delirio’s Quesadilla (36,900) is yet another example of what fusion dishes can do.

Flour tortillas are stuffed with salmon and sauteed shrimp and covered in an Asian curry sauce.

Absolutely divine.

But if you’re looking for classic Mexican dishes or classic Asian dishes, they are available too.

The Salmón Garrapiñado (44,900 COP) for example, is highly recommended too!

Delirio Exquisito has two branches in Medellin, namely one in Provenza and the other one in Laureles.

Delirio Exquisito is a more upscale concept, especially compared to the other restaurants recommended in this article. But in return, you will taste food that you won’t taste elsewhere in Medellin.
