Mar y Fuego is one of my personal favorite restaurants in Medellin. The reason for that is that the chef, who is also one of the owners of this restaurant, shows off his creativity in an incredibly interesting way. Not only do the flavors surprise you, but when you take a better look at the menu and look at the ingredients, you immediately notice that you are dealing with a chef with an extraordinary passion for local produce. Comfort food at its finest, but with finishing touches that are somewhat unusual yet incredibly tasty. For those interested in brunch, the restaurant also serves brunch daily and obviously, it’s a separate menu. However, the recommended dishes below are from both the brunch as the regular dining menu.

Pesco del Pacífico (69,900 COP)*
Like all of the dishes served here, this catch of the day looks beautiful and tasty. The fish is served with shrimp and sausage and is also covered in a shrimp sauce and green pepper from Putumayo. It’s one of the main courses of the regular menu and it tastes incredible!
Pork Tomahawk (59,000 COP)
Pork Tomahawk (59,000 COP)
For the meat lovers among us, make sure to order this juicy pork cut with bone covered in spices, served with roasted peanut sauce and an aligot of creole potato. It’s a huge portion but with the tenderness of the pork and the delicious peanut sauce, you won’t get bored. Eat like nobody’s watching!
Tuna Toast (37,900 COP)
Tuna Toast (37,900 COP)
This Tuna Toast is part of the brunch menu. Served on a homemade sourdough toast, the fresh tuna is diced and served with avocado, kimchi mayonnaise, Philadelphia, and a reduction of sesame and lemon. Yes, it tastes as delicious as it sounds.
Torticas de Chocolo (23,900 COP)
Torticas de Chocolo (23,900 COP)
As mentioned in the introduction, the chef of this restaurant is incredibly creative. And I believe this is the perfect example of how he envisions how food should be served. This savory dish is his own version of a typical Arepa de Chocola, made with sweet corn and fried costeño Cheese. You won’t find anything similar in Medellin, and perhaps even in the world. A must-try!
Ceviche Coral (39,900 COP)
Ceviche Coral (39,900 COP)
This starter is a seafood mix of shrimp and octopus combined in a creamy sauce and topped with flaked pork belly. Because of the freshness and sourness, it’s the perfect way to excite your tastebuds for the main courses. Easily shareable and super tasty!
Prawns Burger (45,900 COP)
Prawns Burger (45,900 COP)
Garlic prawns on a brioche bun with tartar sauce, coleslaw, roasted pineapple, mayonnaise, and bacon. That’s the description of this delicious burger and it’s part of the brunch menu. You can choose between thinly sliced fries or rustic fries (as seen in the picture). My personal preference goes to the rustic fries as these are crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside.
Special French Toast (29,900 COP)
Special French Toast (29,900 COP)
Super tasty and comforting French toast with honey, fruits, whipped cream, and lemon zest. This dish is part of the brunch menu and obviously is dominantly sweet. You can order it as a breakfast option, but I would highly recommend it to order it as a dessert and share it together as it’s quite a heavy dish with all that cream. But it sure is tasty!
Lobster & Shrimp Hot Dog (45,900 COP)
Lobster & Shrimp Hot Dog (45,900 COP)
Lobster and shrimp sauteed with garlic sauce, sweet chili, and lemon between a brioche bread with momposino cheese and tartar oil. A flawless meal and served with plenty of lobster and shrimp. I would go for the rustic fries instead of the thin fries, but that’s just a personal preference.
