This restaurant has a legendary status among locals. Similar to the famous restaurant “Mondongo’s”, this restaurant has a Wall of Fame and people from other cities and towns travel all the way to Medellin to try the Ajiaco (chicken soup) and Mondongo (beef tripe soup). There will always be a debate about which of these restaurants serves the best version, but this restaurant feels more authentic than Mondongo’s, which is heavily commercialized. If you’re into typical Colombian soups, make sure to visit this restaurant too, simply because they are so incredibly tasty!

Ajiacos (22,500 - 26,700 COP)*
This is one of the two soups that made this restaurant so famous. You can add cream and capers to the soup according to your taste. The soup is incredibly rich and filling and it’s very satisfying to eat. When it comes to Ajiaco in Medellin, I can fairly say that this is one of my favourites! All soups are available in two sizes.
Mondongo (22,500 - 26,700 COP)
Mondongo (22,500 - 26,700 COP)
Another one of their bestsellers. This herby soup contains beef trip, an ingredient that not every foreigner is fond of. Nonetheless, it’s a tasty delicacy and this soup attracts people all out of Medellin and beyond. You can add cilantro to it to make it even tastier.
Cazuela de Frijoles (22,500 - 26,700 COP)
Cazuela de Frijoles (22,500 - 26,700 COP)
This hearty bowl full of beans and chicharron (crispy pork belly) is one of the alternative main dishes you can order here. The beans are topped with chunks of avocado and crispy fried onion. Absolutely flawless, but keep in mind that it’s quite a heavy dish. So perhaps it’s better to order the smaller version.
Arepas con Hogao (4,500 COP)
Arepas con Hogao (4,500 COP)
This is an excellent starter. Very straightforward, but as these arepas are served nicely warm, it’s hard to stay no to these small bites. If you have a large appetite, or visit the restaurant with a (small) group, it’s always to order this starter.
Mazamorra (6,00 COP)
Mazamorra (6,00 COP)
One of the few desserts available here. As this is quite a traditional restaurant, the desserts are authentic too. If you never tried Mazamorra before, it’s soft corn with milk. You add panela (sugar from sugarcane) to make it sweeter and tastier. It’s worth trying!
