This local eatery is famously known among locals – not tourists – for serving the crispiest Chicharron in the city. The pork belly is deep-fried until perfection and instead of serving a small portion, La Gloria de Gloria serves an insanely big pork belly. You can order the Chicharron as an individual dish or with a so-called Bandeje Paisa, a typical platter from the Antioquia region. Aside from the pork belly, the menu consists of typical soups and a few grilled meat options. However, the main attraction is the pork belly. And that it’s an attractions is proven by the fact that you have to wait in line to get a table, especially during the weekends. Now, most locals come in large groups. If you arrive alone or with the two of you, chances are pretty high that you can get a smaller table quicker than the larger families. If you’re a food enthusiasts who want to eat like a local, then Gloria de Gloria is a must-visit!

This huge platter comes with their famous crispy pork belly, loads of meat, morcilla with arepa, and bean soup. The whole table is filled with plates for this platter, so as you can imagine, you can easily share this enormous meal with the two of you. This is also the most-ordered dish and the main reason why so many people visit this place.

Mondongo (55,000 COP)
Mondongo is one of their best-selling soups, a typical dish from this region. Keep in mind that this is made with beef tripe, an ingredient not everyone is fond of. The portion is incredibly large and is served with rice, banana, and avocado. Again, it’s easily shareable with two people. For most people from Medellin, this delicacy is mouth-watering good, but for foreigners, it’s not always their cup of tea.
