Mamasita Medallo

Mamasita Medallo is not only an incredibly popular restaurant in Poblado, but it’s also one of my personal favorite eateries in town. This trendy place serves tasty and beautifully presented Colombian dishes, all with a twist. Instead of serving large food platters, the dishes are more delicate in size, making it super convenient to share food with friends. And to be honest, prices here are reasonable, so it’s a great way to explore Colombian gastronomy by ordering smaller portions with all sorts of flavors and textures. Whenever friends or family visit me in Colombia, Mamasita Medallo is always one of the restaurants I take them to. And if you don’t know what to expect or what to order, have a look at our recommended dishes below.

Picada de Morcilla (26,000 COP)*

This restaurant has many shared platters and one of them is the Picada de Morcilla. The morcilla, which is a Colombian blood sausage, is fried on both sides, making it extra crispy on the outside. The platter is served with golden crisp potatoes. What makes this dish so amazing is the guacamole. Perfec to share. It’s one of my favourite dishes at Mamasita Medallo.

Morrillo a la Brasa (56,000 COP)

Morrillo a la Brasa (56,000 COP)

One of the bestsellers at Mamasita Medallo is their Morrilo a la Brasa. This is a slowly cooked beef that’s covered in onion and panel, which makes it a relatively sweet dish. It tastes a bit like Posta Cartagenara but with incredibly tender beef. Highly recommended, although I do suggest you order a savory side dish to it to balance the sweetness.

Baby Beef (45,000 COP)

Baby Beef (45,000 COP)

Beef lovers should definitely order this tasty main course. The beef is cooked to your preference and I do suggest going for a medium or medium rare to ensure the baby beef stays nicely tender. This platter comes with golden fried potatoes and arepa.

Frijoles (22,000 COP)

Frijoles (22,000 COP)

A classic dish presented in a modern way. The platter comes with a large bowl of beans accompanied by chicharron, chorizo, minced beef, fried onions, and rice. All of this for only 22,000 COP, which is an absolute bargain. A great option during lunch, or when combined with a starter when you’re having a larger appetite.

Lentejas (36,000 COP)

Lentejas (36,000 COP)

The Lentejas is similar to the Frijoles, another classic dish presented in a modern way. For me personally, I would go for the Lentjes, which is a bowl of lentils instead of beans. It’s much lighter while still very satisfying to eat.
