Bamee Koa Sae Lee is in business since 1956 but started as a street food vendor first. Nowadays, it’s one of the go-to places for tasty noodles in Thonglor and during peak hours, the small restaurant is always packed. A bowl of noodles costs you between 50 and 80 THB. Aside from the noodles, variations of fried rice and Khao Moo Grob are available too. For a larger appetite, we suggest trying their roasted duck or crispy roasted pork as well, which costs you 150 THB per plate.

2. Buay Pochana

 

If you love to eat duck, then Buay Pochana is the place for you to go. Located at the end of Sukhumvit Soi 55, this popular local eatery only offers duck dishes, including duck tongue and duck gizzard. Does that sound too adventurous? Don’t worry, we kept it simple during our visits. Our personal favourites are the Duck Stewed Noodles in Clay Pot (120 THB) and Duck Wonton (80 THB). Especially the duck in clay pot was impressively good with plenty of garlic and tasty, rich gravy.

3. Hoi-Tod Chaw-Lae

 

Listed in our article about the best Hoy Tod in Bangkok, Hoi-Tod Chaw-Laew is yet another local restaurant in Thonglor that you should visit. This small restaurant serves Hoy Tod, Or Suan and also a killer Pad Thai. What makes this place so good is that makes both the Hoy Tod and the Pad Thai incredibly crispy, which gives it a unique texture. Prices vary between 100 THB to 150 THB, which is a bit expensive compared to the other local restaurants in this section, but keep in mind that they do use plenty of seafood in their dishes.

 

 

 

4. Mae Varee

 

Mae Varee can measure itself with the best mango sticky rice shops in town and is a perfect place to devour one of Thailand’s most iconic desserts. Over the years, Mae Varee built up a reputation by serving constantly excellent quality mangos. The downside is that Mae Varee is pricy with a whopping 150 THB per portion. A much cheaper alternative is Je Meaw Sukhuvmit 38, which is a street food cart located at the front of Sukhumvit Soi 38. It offers the same quality mangos but is only open in the evening.

Simply put this way, Boon Tong Kiat serves the best Hainanese Chicken Rice in Bangkok. Hainanese Chicken Rice is poached chicken and seasoned rice served with chili sauce. One of our favourite restaurants in Bangkok is 55 Pochana. This hugely popular place opens its doors at half-past six every evening and closes its doors almost in the morning. And even when you pass by it after midnight, this restaurant in Thonglor still has plenty of customers. Why? Because they serve unique and excellent-tasting dishes. And that’s no surprise as their target group often lives nearby or goes out in Thonglor. Supanniga Eating Room is yet another fantastic mid-range restaurant in Thonglor that offers a unique dining experience for a decent price. Dishes that are served at Supanniga Eating Room are rooted in the owner’s hometown, namely the Trad and Chantaburi provinces and a little bit of Isaan.
